I know a thing or two about Romance...(and Ashlyn's story)

Our little family was growing by leaps and bounds!  Ashlyn decided to move into the basement so she could focus on her studies.  She was a young adult now, and desperately wanted to become a doctor.  Working her way through med school would not be easy, so Rainer and I decided to let her stay with us rent free.

Miss Thang Bella continued to work on her artwork.  She seemed to be into all things art and photography and travel.  Being a teenager is never easy but when you are labeled as being odd or eccentric, its even worse.

Little man Carson was a cute, loving kid.  His dad and I were very proud when he made the baseball team!

Our little angels Dixie and Darla, the twins, were growing like crazy too.

I was working on my next book, this time a romance novel.  I figured a woman with 5 kids should know a thing or two about romance, right?

Our happy little family.

Financially, we were strapped.  Putting Ashlyn through college was about to break us.  The repo man even came and took some of our furniture to pay the bills one day.  We tried not to worry though.  If my new romance novel was a hit, we'd be set.

As they typically do, Bella grew up on us.  Before we knew it she was a young adult.  She decided to take a year off and travel to Egypt to study photography before entering the work force or going to college.  She had saved up enough money to move into a small apartment as soon as she returned from her trip.

Meanwhile Ashlyn was going through some changes.  Med school was going great, and she was even earning some income!  She was lonely though, and she decided to get herself a makeover in hopes of starting to date.

It was fall, and we decorated the house for Halloween!  The kids got a kick out of it.

Ashlyn emerged from the basement with some news....her friend had set her up on a blind date.  She knew nothing about the guy, only that he was a doctor.

Once she met him, she realized that her friend had set her up as a joke.

Ashlyn:  Yeah, he was a doctor alright.  A witch doctor.  At least that's what he told me.  Some kind of psychic witch doctor voodoo priest is what he described himself as.  I was polite, and just told him I wasn't feeling well and would have to reschedule our date.  I felt guilty.  He seemed like a nice guy.  But he was old enough to be my father and had a beer belly and a few missing teeth.  I  am not shallow but I do have my limits.

Ashlyn:  After the disasterous meeting, I went to the bar to have a drink - I needed one.  I then called my friend and told her that I didn't find it funny.  She told me I had no sense of humor.

Dixie and Darla were kids now, and very close but very different in personality!  Dixie was shy and Darla was more wild.  Darla was always trying to get Dixie into trouble.

Carson was a teenager and a bit of a slacker.  He cared about partying, drinking, and girls.  Not much else mattered!  He was also lazy, and his weight showed it.

I continued to work on my writing.  I was right...my romance novel was a hit!  So I sat down to write a second one.  Apparently I have a knack for writing steamy scenes!  I should....considering I was pregnant.  Again.  Yes, I know I should stop.  I don't wanna!

Ashlyn:  Being a doctor is really hard.  You would think guys would be falling at your feet, but they aren't.  They're either intimidated by your success or they assume you don't know how to have fun.  Neither of which is true.  Just sayin.

Ashlyn: My friend set me up again.  Am I a fool for trusting her to send me on another blind date?  Probably.  She told me this guy was a gem though...a lawyer, never married, no kids, no missing teeth!  So I agreed....figured I have nothing to lose.

Ashlyn: So I put on my cutest outfit and headed out to grab a cab.  The whole way there I was thinking how stupid I am for trusting that heifer.

Ashlyn:  As I sat there alone in the bar, waiting, I glanced up at the TV on the wall and realized.....omg.....it's April 1st....April Fools Ashlyn.  *sigh*  I am never speaking to that girl again.  She didn't send anyone this time at least...no one for me to let down gently.  I had a few drinks and left.

Ashlyn: That night as I crawled into bed in my very unsexy nightgown, I prayed to the simgod to let me meet a decent man...someone kind and loving.  I don't care what his career is, or what he looks like...as long as he's my age and nice.

The robot broke the washing machine.  Yes, I know that was random, I just thought it was funny.
